Lower School
Located in historic Hardy Hall, renovated in 2008, St. Andrew’s Lower School combines both a dynamic and engaging learning environment with an idyllic setting. Our small classroom size is purposely set to include no more than 10 students each in Grades 3, 4, and 5. By doing so, our experienced teachers are able to work with students to individualize instruction and challenge them to reach their full potential in a supportive and nurturing atmosphere. We believe that skills are critical to building a strong educational foundation and a responsible life. Our innovative program provides students the opportunity to find success through a balance of systematic and direct instruction, small group activities, independent practice, and cooperative learning.
We emphasize community building by teaching students developmentally appropriate skills for school and life through daily classroom Morning Meetings. These gatherings mirror the Morning Meetings of the Middle and Upper schools and reinforce our strong committment to collaboration and are designed to benefit the entire community. The integrated and theme-based curriculum reaches across all subject areas with a focus on the Arts, and is designed to assist each student as they transition into our Middle School where this personal approach to education continues.
Here at St. Andrew's we are enthusiastic about our Lower School, but emphasize that families should visit to have a real understanding of our success with students. As you walk through Hardy Hall, you will see enthusiastic students and teachers with glowing smiles that say “St. Andrew’s is indeed a wonderful place for learning.”
