Middle School
At St. Andrew’s, our Middle School consists of Grades 6, 7, and 8, and continues the concept of individualized education that is developed in the Lower School, and the belief that each student can succeed. This approach to education is enhanced further by developing and enhancing a strong set of academic and personal skills to prepare students to enter the Upper School. As a result, our Middle School curriculum is built on sequential steps in the learning process that helps each student take responsibility for his or her own learning, and gives them the self –confidence to become life-long learners. We work with each student to become effective communicators, critical thinkers, efficient workers, and strong community members.
The Middle School is based on a team approach that assigns a humanities teacher, a math/science teacher, and a learning services teacher to each grade. This collaboration is enhanced by a flexible block schedule that allows our teachers to integrate both content and skills in every class. The morning is reserved for English, history, science, and math, while the afternoon is scheduled for arts, physical education, and computer training,
There is no question when you visit our picturesque campus and take a walk throughout the Middle School in Hardy Hall, you will experience firsthand the dynamics that highlight our passionate, experienced, and dedicated teachers. Our approach to learning reflects St. Andrew’s strong conviction that the middle school years can be a time for extraordinary learning. As a result our Middle School provides each child the structure and support he or she needs to be confident and successful. No one is "caught in the middle" in St. Andrew's school!
