College Counseling

The College Counseling office at St. Andrew's School assists each student with the college admissions process. As students progress through the Upper School the college counseling office becomes increasingly involved and we take pride in our extensive and highly personalized approach. Appointments can be scheduled with the Director of College Counseling anytime during the year. We intend to be a resource, and provide the tools that can help students and families navigate their college search. The interests, abilities and desires of each student inform our guidance as we seek to generate realistic and inspiring opportunities for our students.  Successful college placement is our final goal and we strive to help students select a college or university in which they will thrive.

The process includes:

• The PSAT is given in the fall of the sophomore and junior years, and the results are reviewed with each student.
• Formal, individualized counseling begins in the junior year.
• Official standardized testing typically involves a first attempt in the spring of the junior year and a second effort in the fall of the senior year.
• During the fall of the senior year, the Director of College Counseling works closely with each student to complete his/her college applications and to meet the appropriate deadlines.
• College admissions representatives visit campus throughout the fall; juniors and seniors are encouraged to meet with these representatives
• Students have the opportunity to attend college fairs throughout the course of the school year
• A financial aid night is scheduled each January for parents.
• A college information night is held in the fall and the spring each year.
