Boarding Student FAQs
Q. Do Boarders have mandatory study hours?
A. They do. In addition to the study halls built into students’ schedules, boarders also participate in a nightly study session from 8:00 – 10:00, Sunday through Thursday. At this time, faculty members are available to monitor and, if needed, to provide homework support.
Q. What is there to do on weekends?
A. St. Andrew’s offers a rich program of weekend activities for boarders and day students. Every Friday and Saturday, different events are planned for the students – ranging from movie outings to a day in Boston to ski trips. Every Sunday, we provide an “Errand Van” that shuttles students to local shopping areas. On-campus activities, such as cooking, ice cream parties, and sports are also offered.
Q. Is there always supervision on campus?
A. Yes. Each dorm has two dorm parents and there is always an Administrator on duty. In addition, more than 37% of our faculty/administration live on campus.
Q. Can students stay on campus during school vacations?
A. Students are welcome to stay at St. Andrew’s during long weekends. However, during our longer school breaks, such as Winter Vacation, Spring Break, and Summer Vacation, students are expected to find accommodations off campus. Often our International Students are offered a Home Stay with St. Andrew’s families
