A Knowledge Center for All

Our school librarian acts as a curator of information, a caretaker of content and people, a catalyst of people and services, and the connector to sources of information, multiliteracies, and reading.

By working with teachers and students, the school librarian is a co-creator of information with the school and the wider community. The role requires one to challenge learners to seek appropriate information, to use sound methods of inquiry and research, and teach them to question the information they find and use.

The library is fully staffed with a teacher and a teacher/librarian, who are ready to provide support to students throughout the entire day. Students can use the workstation and collaborative spaces to work on individual or group assignments.

Our librarian often directly energizes teachers and learners to seek a wider range of information and experiences. There is also a challenge to preserve and distribute content that is suppressed or endangered because of financial, cultural, or political circumstances. The library and the librarian are intended to be used as a starting point for our patrons to work together to make the most of all the opportunities surrounding us each day at St. Andrew’s.

Rooke Library

All members of the St. Andrew’s community (students, parents, trustees, faculty, and staff) have full library privileges in the Rooke Library. The Rooke Library is centrally located inside the Owing Stone Academic Center — the hub of the Upper School. This library provides a beautiful space to study, work, or read; it is a popular destination on campus.

The library provides full electronic access to JSTOR, EBSCO, World Book Advanced, SORA/Overdrive, and more. Both our digital and print collections offer materials in multiple languages, dyslexic fonts, and audio formats in order to support the diverse learning needs of our student population and our International Baccalaureate curricular framework.
